Harman's is a new breed of American eatery with superior food and service, pairing imaginative simple comestibles and wine with caring hospitality, comfortable surroundings and exceptional value. With an emerging downtown location and a mission to support our community, Harman's aims to change the restaurant landscape in Cherry Creek and across the state. Harman's defines what it is to be a laid back neighborhood dining spot as well as a culinary destination. The name honors Edwin P. Harman's efforts to attract settlers to the 320 acres that he had purchased in 1871 just north of Cherry Creek and east of what is now University Boulevard and platted as Harman’s Subdivision of Arapahoe County in 1882.
This unpretentious joint seats 80 downstairs with another 35 seats in the prestigious mezzanine. The space is clean and spare with rustic rough hewn material, reclaimed barn wood, distressed concrete and lots of communal seating.
The spirit is sophisticated to a degree, but never pretentious. it’s a joint that’s accessible on all levels: menu, value and aesthetics. Last month, we hit the road and took our chefs and their favorite dishes to the historical and prestigious James Beard House in New York City, preparing a tasty six-course meal and hoping to convey some things about the Colorado food scene to the Big Apple: Colorado's got it going on. The food here is as good if not better than anywhere else in the country or the world.
That invitation is considered one of the food world’s great honors; Its associated James Beard Foundation oversees the annual James Beard Awards, which are akin to the restaurant industry’s Academy Awards. James Beard made enormous contributions to cooking, and the foundation continues that tradition.
